The Embassy of the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Malta in Albania learned with deep sorrow of the passing of Bishop Simon Kulli, Bishop of the Diocese of Sapë, who died on 29 November 2025 at the age of 52.

Bishop Simon Kulli belonged to the first generation of Catholic priests formed after the fall of the communist regime in Albania. His personal and pastoral journey was closely linked to the history of the Church’s rebirth in the country, marked by fidelity, service, and deep commitment to the spiritual and human dignity of his people.

Throughout his ministry, he dedicated particular attention to the memory of the Albanian martyrs and to pastoral initiatives in the fields of health care and social service.

The Embassy of the Sovereign Order of Malta extends its sincere condolences to the clergy and faithful of the Diocese of Sapë, to the Albanian Bishops’ Conference, and to all those who mourn his loss.
