The Order of Malta’s 65th international pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes, France, begins today. Leading the pilgrimage is Grand Master Fra’ John Dunlap, in his first official engagement after his very recent election by the Council Complete of State. Many of the Capitulars travelled to Lourdes directly from Rome.
Fra’ John Dunlap has been elected Prince and 81st Grand Master of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta.
On 7 March, Archbishop Arjan Dodaj, Archbishop of Tiranë-Durrës, was received by Grand Chancellor Riccardo Paternò di Montecupo and Grand Hospitaller Fra' Alessandro de Franciscis.
The Extraordinary Chapter General, presided over by the Lieutenant of the Grand Master Fra' John Dunlap, elected all the members of the Sovereign Council, who will remain in office for six years.
HRH Princess Geraldine, daughter of HRH Crown Prince Leka II and Princess Elias of Albania was baptised in Tirana on 28 January 2023 in the Chapel of Our Lady of the Annunciation, Palatine Chapel of the Palace of the Brigades. The sacrament was celebrated by His Most Reverend Excellency. Mgr. Arjan Dodaj, Metropolitan Archbishop of Tiranë-Durrës, in the name of H.H. Pope Francis.
On December 2nd, on the occasion of the celebrations for the 110th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Albania, the Lieutenant of the Grand Master, Fra’ John Dunlap, had a meeting in Rome with the Albanian President, Bajram Begaj. The President thanked the Order of Malta for the many health and social assistance activities carried out in the Balkan country by the ‘Malteser Albania’ volunteer corps with the support of the Order’s Embassy.
