From October 25 to 27, the Sovereign Military Order of Malta organized its annual pilgrimage to the Holy House in Loreto. This important event brought together 1,200 participants, including members of the Order, the sick, and other pilgrims, for a program filled with religious activities, spiritual reflection, and age-specific training sessions.
Key figures in attendance included the Order’s Grand Commander, Fra’ Emmanuel Rousseau; the Grand Hospitaller, Fra’ Alessandro de Franciscis; and the Receiver of the Common Treasury, Fabrizio Colonna. The pilgrimage opened with a Mass celebrated by the Archbishop of Loreto, Msgr. Fabio Dal Cin. On October 26, Mass was presided over by the Order’s Prelate, Msgr. Luis Manuel Cuña Ramos, followed by the Way of the Cross in the Basilica and dedicated prayer sessions for young people aged 14 to 26, led by the Grand Hospitaller. The day concluded with a meditated Rosary and a moving Candlelight Vigil organized by the Capuchin Friars, fostering a profound atmosphere of communion.
Sunday’s closing ceremonies included Mass celebrated by Cardinal Patron Gianfranco Ghirlanda, followed by a procession and Eucharistic blessing, bringing the pilgrimage to a solemn conclusion.
Ambassador Stefano Palumbo, the Sovereign Order of Malta’s Ambassador to Albania, also took part in the pilgrimage. During the event, he met with Cardinal Gianfranco Ghirlanda, the Order of Malta’s Patronus, and the Grand Hospitaller. Ambassador Palumbo also met with Il Nobile Giulio Maria de Luca di Malpignano, Delegate of Puglia and Lucania, marking another step toward the establishment of an Albanian sub-delegation under the Grand Priory of Naples. The excellent relationship with Filippo Orsini, Delegate of Umbria, was also highlighted and captured in photos, underscoring the strong ties within the Order’s community.
