The Order of Malta World Day Celebrated with Free Medical Services in Shkodra and Lezha
12/10/2024

On October 12, 2024, the Sovereign Military Order of Malta held its second annual “Order of Malta World Day.” The celebration underscores the Order’s global mission, which has long been dedicated to providing humanitarian assistance to the most vulnerable populations. As stated by the Order, “The celebration of its World Day brings to focus its international role in providing humanitarian assistance to those in need… It continues to uphold its mission of service to the sick, the poor, and the needy through its many institutions, grand priories, and national associations worldwide.”

In line with this mission, the Albanian Organization of the Order of Malta organized a medical outreach activity in the cities of Shkodra and Lezha. This initiative aimed to extend charitable support to the local community by offering essential health services such as arterial pressure measurement, blood glucose testing, Body Mass Index (BMI) assessments, and personalized medical counseling, free of charge.

Thanks to the generous support of the Embassy of the Order of Malta in Albania and the exceptional dedication of the organization’s staff and volunteers, led by Dr. Maranaj Marku, this medical outreach initiative successfully provided vital health services to the local communities, embodying the Order’s mission to assist those in need.
