On November 15, 2024, the Deputy Consul General of Italy in Vlora, Mr. Antonio Rapisardi, was honored with the Cross of Commander pro Merito Melitensi during a ceremony at the premises of the Albanian Organization of the Sovereign Order of Malta in Shkodër. The award, granted by His Most Eminent Highness the Prince and Grand Master Fra’ John Dunlap and the Sovereign Council, recognizes Mr. Rapisardi’s remarkable dedication to fostering cooperation between the Order of Malta and Italian institutions in Albania.
The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including the Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Albania, H.E. Stefano Palumbo; the Coadjutor Archbishop of Shkodër, His Excellency Giovanni Peragine; the First Secretary of the Embassy Mr. Stiven Shala; the Member of the Order of Malta, Marchese Giuseppe Durazzo; and the Director of the Albanian Organization of the Order of Malta, Dr. Maranaj Marku.
Mr. Rapisardi’s efforts have been instrumental in establishing strong ties between the Order of Malta and local institutions in Vlora, Fier, Berat, and Gjirokastër. His commitment has facilitated key visits and collaborations, enriching the Order’s understanding of these communities and supporting charitable initiatives.
As a member of the Board of Directors of Association of Italian Knights of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta (ACISMOM), Mr. Rapisardi exemplifies the principles of charity, fraternity, and perseverance that define the Order.
