The Embassy of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Albania is pleased to announce that H.E. Monsignor Giovanni Peragine, Apostolic Administrator of Southern Albania, has been appointed as the Coadjutor Archbishop of Shkodër-Pult. Monsignor Peragine will be joining the esteemed Archbishop Angelo Massafra, who will be stepping down by the end of this year after three decades of dedicated service.
Just this March, Ambassador Palumbo had the honor of paying a courtesy visit to Monsignor Peragine in his capacity as Apostolic Administrator of Southern Albania. This region, covering more than half of Albania and encompassing approximately 60 percent of the country’s territory, is experiencing a slow but steady increase in Catholic conversions. Currently, there are around 3,000 Catholics in the south, a testament to over 25 years of dedicated missionary work and evangelization efforts.
Ambassador Palumbo and the diplomatic staff extend their heartfelt congratulations to Monsignor Peragine and the community of Shkoder-Pult. They also express their deep gratitude to Archbishop Massafra for his remarkable contributions over the past 30 years.
