In a landmark event that brought together foreign diplomats and lcoal officials, the Consulate of Italy in Vlore, Albania, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Sovereign Order of Malta, organized a conference to commemorate the World Day of the Order of Malta. The conference took place at the Aula Magna of the “Ismail Qemali” University in Vlore, serving as a platform for discussions on the rich history of the Order of Malta, its ties with Albania, and the humanitarian endeavors of Malteser Albania.
His Excellency Stefano Palumbo, the Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta, expressed his enthusiasm for being part of this significant occasion in Vlore. He conveyed his gratitude to the Consul General Ms. Iva Palmieri, and the Deputy Consul Mr. Antonio Rapisardi, for their instrumental role in orchestrating this event, emphasizing the importance of fostering diplomatic ties and collaboration on a global scale.
A highlight of the conference was a captivating presentation delivered by Stiven Shala, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Order of Malta. Shala delved into the profound history of the Order, shedding light on its enduring relations with Albania. The audience was treated to insights into the extensive humanitarian efforts carried out by Malteser Albania, showcasing the organization’s commitment to making a positive impact in the region.
The Councillor of the Embassy of the Sovereign Order of Malta in Albania, Massimo Fantechi, the Director of the Malteser Albania Maranaj Marku and numerous authorities, including the Deputy Minister of Tourism Vilma Bello, the Vice Rector of the University Frosina Londo, representatives from the local Prefecture, and the Maritime Border Unit of the Guardia di Finanza in Vlora, were also present.
The event provided a unique opportunity for participants to deepen their understanding of the Order of Malta’s global mission and its local impact.
