In connection with his trip to southern Albania to meet local institutions on the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Order of Malta and the Albanian republic, the Order of Malta’s Ambassador was received by the Prefect of Berat Mrs Valbona Zylyftari on 22 March 2024.

Accompanied by Italy’s Consular Correspondent in Berat, Mr Vladimir Cela, and by the Consul General of Italy in Vlora, Mrs Iva Palmieri, Ambassador Palumbo was able to meet with the Director of the Berat Regional Police, Mr Kastriot Skenderaj, and all the staff of the Prefecture of Berat to share the Order of Malta’s activities in the north of the country and to listen to the needs that Prefect Zylyftari outlined as necessary for the Municipality of Berat.

Marked by a spirit of conviviality and mutual respect, the meeting was the Order of Malta’s first institutional meeting in Berat and marks the establishment of a desirable cooperation in the territory of one of Albania’s most beautiful and historic cities.
